The top-selling cars of 2022
Have you spotted lots of the same make of car on the road? You might be seeing one of the top-selling cars of 2022, or maybe you even drive one yourself.
We’ve shortlisted some of the best-selling cars of 2022 so far (accurate as of 4 November).
1. Nissan Qashqai
Registrations: 33,562
The Qashqai is a hybrid car, but with a difference. Its e-Power technology – a form of tech unique to Nissan – means the car doesn’t need plugging in but is self-charging. E-Power uses the petrol engine and excess braking energy to charge the electric battery that powers the wheels directly, making for a quieter drive and seamless acceleration.
2. Vauxhall Corsa
Registrations: 32,126
The Vauxhall Corsa was the top-selling car of 2021, but it’s been knocked down to second position this year. It comes as both a petrol and diesel and is outfitted with a Driver Drowsiness System, which alerts the driver to stop and rest if they start showing signs of drowsiness when driving. A fully electric version of the Corsa is also available.
3. Ford Puma
Registrations: 30,898
The Puma is a great family car. It comes with two rear ISOFIX attachment points so you can safely fit two child seats in your car. It also comes with a new MegaBox lower load compartment. With 80 litres of storage space, it’s perfect for packing for family holidays, and its drainage point makes it easily washable if you use it to store muddy boots and sports equipment.
4. Kia Sportage
Registrations: 26,393
The Kia Sportage comes as a standard petrol/diesel or as a hybrid – either mild, electric or plug-in. Parking in narrow spaces is easy in the Sportage with its 360º camera. You can also park from outside the car using Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) which lets you control the vehicle with the key to help you manoeuvre into tight spaces.
5. MINI
Registrations: 25,756
The MINI has the option to add a Head-Up Display (HUD) which shows speed, navigation instructions and road signs. Coupled with real-time traffic information that will let you know about any jams or accidents in advance, the MINI can help make journeys smoother.
6. Hyundai Tucson
Registrations: 24,326
The Tucson comes as a mild or plug-in hybrid. It has several driver-assist systems including RSPA and Highway Drive Assist which combines the technology of cruise control and Lane Keep Assist. This combination, along with map data and sensors, allow the car to make speed and steering adjustments while you’re driving on the motorway.
